Why Meraki

The way organizations plan, procure, and deliver furniture hasn’t changed in decades. We’re building what comes next.

The Meraki Difference

We believe the environments where people work, heal, learn, and innovate deserve a process as thoughtful as the spaces themselves.

Our Point of View

We believe organizations deserve more than successful furniture projects.

Commercial furniture is often the second-largest capital investment an organization will make. Yet many organizations continue to manage that investment one project at a time.

There is a Better Way

Commercial furniture is often one of the largest capital investments an organization will make during a commercial construction project, renovation, expansion, relocation, or workplace transformation. Yet the furniture itself is rarely the greatest challenge.

Every furniture project is the visible result of hundreds of business decisions made long before a product is ever specified or purchased.

The greatest opportunity isn’t delivering one successful project. It’s building a system that improves every project that follows.

These decisions influence far more than a successful project. They shape how people work. How patients heal. How students learn. How organizations innovate. How culture is built.

Despite the significance of that investment, organizations frequently devote more attention to negotiating individual projects than designing the systems, governance, contracts, and decision-making framework that guide millions of dollars of capital investment — and the process used to plan, procure, and deliver these environments has remained remarkably unchanged.

Every Project Tells A Story

Every furniture project is the visible result of hundreds of business decisions made long before a product is ever specified or purchased.

Furniture isn’t simply the final product.

Furniture is where organizational decisions become visible.

A Different Way

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work across nearly every perspective involved in delivering commercial real estate projects, with a specialization in commercial furniture and FF&E.

Each perspective solved a different problem. Together, they revealed something much larger.

No single discipline has the complete picture. That realization shaped how we built Meraki. Rather than organizing ourselves around individual services, we intentionally built multidisciplinary teams that integrate strategy, governance, contracts, procurement, project management, financial stewardship, and operational readiness.

Our clients don’t experience challenges one discipline at a time. Neither should the people helping solve them.

The Real Challenge

Everyone promises to deliver projects on time and on budget. So should they. Those are expectations — not differentiators.

The better question is: were the right decisions made long before the project ever began?

Successful outcomes are shaped by hundreds of interconnected decisions involving planning, governance, contracts, procurement, project management, construction coordination, financial stewardship, and operational readiness. When they are aligned, organizations protect capital, reduce risk, strengthen partnerships, and create lasting value.

The greatest opportunity isn’t improving a single project. It’s strengthening the systems and decisions that shape every future investment.

The Costs That Never Appear On An Invoice

Those costs rarely appear as a single line item. They quietly accumulate throughout the life of a project — and across an entire portfolio.

The greatest return on investment rarely comes from negotiating a lower price. It comes from designing a better system.

Every Project Leaves A Legacy

Those costs rarely appear as a single line item. They quietly accumulate throughout the life of a project — and across an entire portfolio.

Many organizations negotiate projects. Far fewer design procurement systems. Many have Master Service Agreements. Fewer use them strategically to establish governance, accountability, KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Projects are temporary. Systems create lasting value. A contract defines terms. A procurement strategy defines performance.

Protecting The Investment

Commercial furniture is one of an organization’s largest capital investments. Protecting that investment requires
more than delivering products on schedule.

It requires contract strategy, procurement governance, project controls, performance measurement, lifecycle planning, and financial accountability.

The most valuable savings rarely come from negotiating a lower price. They come from designing a better system.

Procurement Begins Long Before Procurement

Procurement is only half of the equation. Long before a single product is priced, the outcome is already being decided.

These decisions shape every project that follows.

Strong procurement creates the foundation. Strong project management protects the execution. Because procurement without execution creates risk. Execution without strategy creates inefficiency.

Procurement begins long before procurement.

Furniture Project Management Is Its Own Discipline

Furniture is not simply the final step in a construction project. It is a specialized project function with its own critical path.

A successful building project does not automatically create a successful furniture project. Effective furniture project management connects design intent, procurement strategy, construction coordination, installation, and operational readiness.

Furniture requires its own strategy, controls, and accountability.

Why Meraki

Across corporate headquarters, healthcare, higher education, financial institutions, hospitality, public sector organizations, and national workplace programs, we observed a consistent pattern.

The projects were different. The decisions behind them were remarkably similar. The same challenges. The same missed opportunities. Organizations invested tremendous effort selecting products, negotiating pricing, and delivering individual projects. Far fewer invested the same effort in designing the systems, governance, contracts, partnerships, and decision-making frameworks that strengthen every project that follows.

We didn’t set out to build another furniture consulting firm. We set out to improve the system behind one of an organization’s largest capital investments. Meraki was founded to help organizations make better decisions — not simply buy furniture more efficiently.

While our expertise is rooted in commercial furniture and FF&E, our purpose has always been much broader. We help organizations strengthen the systems behind their capital investments through strategy, governance, commercial frameworks, contract strategy, procurement, project management, financial stewardship, lifecycle planning, and operational readiness.

We don’t simply deliver furniture projects. We don’t simply manage furniture. We improve the decisions that determine how furniture projects perform — helping organizations protect capital, reduce risk, strengthen partnerships, and create environments that perform long after construction is complete.

Because furniture is where organizational decisions become visible.

Looking Forward

Meraki was built on partnership — with the clients, architects, manufacturers, dealers, contractors, and consultants who share the table. Meaningful progress begins when we’re willing to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and imagine better possibilities.

Our mission has never simply been to improve furniture procurement. It’s to improve the way organizations make decisions, protect capital, and create environments where people thrive.

Because organizations deserve better. Better planning. Better partnerships. Better procurement. Better project management. Better decisions — and, ultimately, better environments for the people who work, heal, learn, innovate, and build community within them.

That is why we exist.
